円相。静けさと癒やし

ENSO takes its name from “Enso (円相)” — the circular form drawn in a single stroke. In Buddhism, this simple shape symbolizes enlightenment, truth, Buddha-nature, and the wholeness of the universe.In the noise and rigidity of modern life, we often find ourselves surrounded by sharp angles and straight lines without even noticing. These lines may speak of efficiency and function, but they can also introduce tension and constraint. A circle is something else entirely. Its unbroken, fluid curve offers calm to the eye and serenity to the soul. Like quiet ripples expanding across still water, it carries a hidden stillness that gently invites us into a world of peace. --- ENSOは、円形を一筆で書いたものを意味する『円相』に由来しています。円相は、仏教では悟りや真理、仏性、宇宙全体などを象徴的に表現したものとされます。私たちは日々の喧騒の中で、意識せずとも角ばったものに囲まれて生きています。直線は、効率や機能性を表す一方で、時に緊張感を生み出します。しかし、円は違います。そのどこまでも滑らかな曲線は、見る者の心を穏やかにし、安らぎを与えます。まるで静かに広がる波紋のように、内に秘めた静けさを解き放ち、私たちを癒やしの世界へと誘ってくれるのです。

STONE & MASONRY / 花崗岩のダイヤモンドとその職人たち

This product features Aji Stone, a premium granite quarried in Takamatsu, Kagawa. Known for its dense, fine-grained structure, Aji Stone allows for precise shaping and long-lasting beauty—highly valued in sculpture and memorials. However, it often contains micro-cracks, requiring expert selection and craftsmanship. In this production area, tasks are divided among artisans, functioning like a single workshop town. Each piece is carefully finished by hand to preserve the stone’s natural elegance. この製品に使用されているのは、香川県高松市で採れる高品質な花崗岩「庵治石」です。庵治石は微細な鉱物が密に結合しており、加工精度が高く、彫刻や墓石に用いられる堅牢で美しい石材です。一方で微細なキズ（クラック）が多く、職人の目利きと高度な加工技術が不可欠です。産地では分業制が確立され、地域全体が一つの工房のように機能し、製品が完成します。本製品も、職人たちが厳選した原石を用い、一つひとつ丁寧に手仕上げしています。

Grace Woven Through Finesse / 繊細さが紡ぐ美

The cabinet section also features traditional woodworking from Kagawa. The method is called Kude-craft, which is a woodworking technique that interlocks wood into intricate patterns without nails. Rooted in temple construction from the 6th century, it has evolved with Japanese craftsmanship and is now a recognized traditional craft in Kagawa. The artisan, Ichiro Ami of “Kude Kobo Kizahashi,” transitioned from being a schoolteacher to a woodworker after being inspired by a local craft exhibition, completing over four years of training to establish his own workshop. キャビネット部分にも香川の伝統工芸が活かされています。特徴的なのは、釘を使わずに木を幾何学模様に組む「組手細工」と呼ばれる木工技術。これは6世紀に仏教とともに伝来した建築技術が、日本の感性により発展したもので、香川県では「組手障子」として伝統工芸品に指定されています。本製品の細工を手がけるのは「組手幸房階」主宰の網一郎氏。元小学校教師でありながら工芸に魅了され、4年4ヶ月の修業を経て職人として独立しました。
